The appearance of the Dimar, however, was soon echoed by the emergence of a far more terrible beast, which soon became known as The Wild Hate. Once again Eldorin sought out Corbin - another act of initiative which, unbeknownst to Eldorin, gives him greater reality by acting on his own will. Finding Corbin, Eldorin asked him what he was up to... Grudgingly, Corbin admitted that he had made a spell. Draegon had given him permission to make his tormentors sorry, and so he unleashed against them the essence of his anger in the form of a spell, a song he had heard that described his fury much too well to be ignored.....

“Something lingers in the dark, waiting in a pool of shadow. Something tainted leaves a mark in the place it lies unseen. Crippled magic left behind grows in strength and grows in evil And its casters now would find it has grown foul and obscene.
“Lightning splits the angry skies - cat and serpent locked in struggle
“Something new is born this night, born in hurt and fear and anger,
“Something more than mortal hate, spoiled like a thing long left dead. (from Songs of ElfQuest, by Richard and Wendy Pini) |
