Amulet This amulet is actually a demonic spirit, bound by deep magic to the encircling frame of the amulet. The spirit lacks both a physical and a spiritual body, being utterly ethereal. It can, however, be seen as a winged demon, and it most certainly can inflict serious physical damage. It can no longer leave the amulet at will, but it can observe. When it is awake, its eyes glow red.

The amulet was given to Temuchin by his former master in order to control him since Temuchin would not allow himself to be marked. For a long time Temuchin believed its purpose was to protect him from danger, though he eventually grew suspicious - while the amulet did in fact prevent his death on several occassions, it never did so without then punishing Temuchin severely.

When Temuchin's master was later killed, the amulet attempted to kill Temuchin in order to be free. It was unable to kill him, however, due to the spirit bond between the two, placed there by the master to prevent Temuchin from removing it. When Temuchin finally recognized that the amulet was little more than a leash, he allowed his father, Kaechii to remove it, hoping to be able to recover from the damage of breaking his contact.

The amulet instantly attacked, driven by its own pain from the severed spirit bond. Kaechii imprisoned it, then watched over Temuchin to ensure that he would be able to survive the break. At one point Temuchin finally panicked, attempting to retrieve the amulet, but he was unable to free it from the orb in which Kaechii had placed it.

Both Temuchin and the amulet were able to survive the break, and they are now independent of each other once more, though they share an awareness of each other. Each can block their own awareness, but neither can block the awareness of the other. The spirit remains trapped within the amulet, and Temuchin is uncertain whether he can duplicate his master's use of the amulet on someone else, or if the spirit would in fact be able to escape.
