![]() Image courtesy of Holiday Clipart | Cordell's sword was given to him by his father upon his father's death. Having been ambushed from behind by thieves, Cordell and his father fought off their assailants, but Cordell was unable to save his father's life. Though the sword would normally have gone to the eldest living son, no one contested Cordell's right to the sword. |

The sword was stolen by a minion hired by Amber, Cordell's former
girlfriend, and given to the mage Dominick to prove her loyalty to
the rebellion. Amber was later killed by Merloch for refusing to
return the sword, and for persistent attacks against Cordell. The
sword remained in Dominick's hands for some time, but was
confiscated by Cordell's son, Palladin, who succeeded in killing
Dominic. The blade then was returned to Jarred (since Cordell had
been killed), and he in turn gave it to Jorael, the eldest brother.
Jorael subsequently lost the sword while being forcibly detained by Draegon. Corbin found the sword and kept it for some time, until Draegon found him with it, and took it away again on the grounds that he was too young to have it. The sword now remains in the hands of Draegon, though Corbin firmly plans to have it when he is old enough. |
